I saw this great post today about how everybody is looking for that easy, quick way to make a lot of money, but very few are willing to do what is really necessary to get there. Namely, most people are just flat-out lazy, or they think it's just going to happen overnight.
I mean if you think about the wealthy people that are well-known, can you even name one that got it easily or quickly (other than the occasional heir)? Me neither. You look at guys like Alex Rodriguez or Warren Buffett or Bill Gates - each of these guys busted their butts in their respective fields to get where they're at today. It's not like A-Rod just picked up a bat one day and, BOOM, he's a star. The guy probably picked up tens of thousand of ground balls and took hundreds of thousands of practice swings growing up to be able to get o a point where he could command a lot of money.
So it just makes me laugh when I come across people who are so convinced that one day they will be making lots of money without having to really bust their tail for it. If it was so easy there'd be a lot more rich people on this earth than there are right now. Getting rich takes hard work, perseverance, a willingness to learn from mistakes, and, yes, a little tiny bit of luck thrown in, and anybody that tells you otherwise is probably selling you something.
